About Me

I am a fully qualified psychotherapist, psychosexual therapist and sex addiction therapist, and have been working in the field of out-of-control sexual behaviours for the past 14 years. I have an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy (with distinction), a Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy (with distinction) and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I also have a Diploma in Integrative Supervision (with distinction). As part of my continued professional development, I have also trained in person-centred counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy and brief solution-focused therapy. As a Registered Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and a Qualified Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC), I abide by strict professional codes of ethics.

As a prominent expert in my field, I am often approached by the media for advice on sex and relationships and have been featured in Marie Claire, Men's Health, Women's Health, Top Sante, Look and Woman magazines, as well as BBC Radio Five Live's 'Men's Hour'. My first book, Three in a Bed: Conversations with a Sex Therapist, was published by Harper Collins in January 2016. I am also co-editor of the International Handbook of Sexual Addiction, published by Routledge in 2017. From 2016 to 2019, I was the editor of the BACP Healthcare Counselling and Psychotherapy Journal. I have also written a number of academic papers on the treatment of sex addiction, which have been published in the Journal of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity, the BACP Private Practice Journal and the BACP Healthcare Counselling and Psychotherapy Journal. In 2017,I was named 'Psychosexual Therapist of the Year' in the GHP Women in Health Awards.

Prior to becoming a sex addiction therapist, I had a long career in international politics. Following an MPhil in Politics, I worked for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the British Council. Long periods of my life have been spent living in France, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Bosnia & Herzegovina, giving me a good understanding of different cultural backgrounds. I speak fluent French and German.
